The following Act was passed by Parliament on 29th June 1998 and assented to by the President on 3rd July 1998:—
Customs (Amendment) Act 1998

Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows:
Short title and commencement
1.
—(1)  This Act may be cited as the Customs (Amendment) Act 1998 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
(2)  The Minister may appoint different dates for the coming into operation of the different provisions of this Act.
Amendment of section 3
2.  Section 3(1) of the Customs Act is amended by deleting the words ", railway station" in the definitions of "Green Channel" and "Red Channel".
Amendment of section 31
3.  Section 31(1) of the Customs Act is amended by deleting paragraph (c) and substituting the following paragraph:
"(c) by rail, at the customs station along the railway; or".
Amendment of section 34
4.  Section 34(1) of the Customs Act is amended —
(a)
by deleting paragraph (c) and substituting the following paragraph:
“(c)
from the customs station along the railway at which the goods arrived;”.
(b)
by inserting, immediately after the word "Woodlands" in paragraph (d), the words "or Tuas".
Amendment of section 37
5.  Section 37 of the Customs Act is amended —
(a)
by deleting paragraph (c) and substituting the following paragraph:
“(c)
the customs station along the railway at which the goods arrived;”.
(b)
by inserting, immediately after the word "Woodlands" in paragraph (d), the words "or Tuas".
Amendment of section 39
6.  Section 39(1) of the Customs Act is amended by deleting the words "railway station" in the third line and substituting the words "customs station along the railway".
Amendment of section 52
7.  Section 52(4) of the Customs Act is amended by deleting the words "Singapore Railway Station" and substituting the words "customs station along the railway".
Miscellaneous amendments
8.  The Customs Act is amended by deleting the words "of the railway station" in the following provisions and substituting the words "at the customs station along the railway":
Sections 41(1) (fourth line) and (3) (third line) and 45 (seventh line).
