Road Traffic Act
Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 3) Rules 2000
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Communications and Information Technology hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 3) Rules 2000 and shall come into operation on 5th June 2000.
Amendment of rule 5
2.  Rule 5 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) is amended by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following paragraph:
(2)  Paragraph (1) shall not apply to any motor vehicle —
(a)
which has been approved by the Registrar as a vintage vehicle; or
(b)
where it is registered in the name of any of the following persons, which is not more than 7 years old:
(i)
a diplomatic officer;
(ii)
a consular officer;
(iii)
a representative, an officer or an employee of such international organisation as the Registrar may approve.”.
Amendment of rule 39
3.  Rule 39(1) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) is amended —
(a)
by deleting the word “or” at the end of sub-paragraph (f);
(b)
by deleting the full-stop at the end of sub-paragraph (g) and substituting the word “; or”; and
(c)
by inserting immediately after sub-paragraph (g), the following sub-paragraph:
(h)
a vehicle registered in the name of any of the following persons which is more than 10 years old and which, at the time of registration, was more than 3 years old:
(i)
a diplomatic officer;
(ii)
a consular officer;
(iii)
a representative, an officer or an employee of such international organisation as the Registrar may approve.”.
