16.
—(1) Subject to the provisions of this Act, a person shall be eligible to be registered as a fully registered pharmacist if he —
(a)
holds a Singapore degree; and
(b)
has acquired not less than 12 months’ practical experience in the practice of pharmacy at any establishment approved by the Council, of which not less than 9 months shall have been acquired under the supervision of a fully registered pharmacist at an establishment in Singapore.
(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), a person, not being a Singapore degree holder, who —
(a)
holds such qualifications as may be recognised by the Council; and
(b)
satisfies the Council that he has special knowledge and skill and sufficient experience in any particular branch of pharmacy,
shall, if the Council thinks fit so to direct, be registered as a fully registered pharmacist.
(3) Notwithstanding subsections (1) and (2), the Council may, if it is of the view that it is not in the public interest for a person referred to in either of those subsections to be registered as a fully registered pharmacist, direct that he be registered as a pharmacist with conditional registration in Part II of the Register of Pharmacists, and section 17(3) to (8) shall apply accordingly.
