An Act to make new provision in respect of copyright and related matters, and to repeal the United Kingdom Copyright Act 1911, the Copyright Act (Chapter 187 of the Revised Edition) and the Copyright (Gramophone Records and Government Broadcasting) Act (Chapter 188 of the Revised Edition) and to make a consequential amendment to the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation Act 1979 (No. 33 of 1979); and for purposes connected with the matters aforesaid.
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows:
PART I
PRELIMINARY
2. Except insofar as Part XI otherwise expressly provides, this Act shall apply in relation to things existing at the date of commencement of this Act in like manner as it applies in relation to things coming into existence after the commencement of this Act.
3. Subject to Part X, this Act shall bind the Government but nothing in this Act shall render the Government liable to be prosecuted for an offence.
4. Subject to the provisions of this Act, no copyright shall subsist otherwise than by virtue of this Act.
5. Nothing in this Act shall affect any right or privilege of the Government or any other person under any other written law, except insofar as that law is expressly repealed, amended or modified by this Act.
