Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Lighting) (Amendment) Rules 1997
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Road Traffic Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore hereby makes the following Rules:
1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Lighting) (Amendment) Rules 1997 and shall come into operation on 1st November 1997.
2. The Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Lighting) Rules (R 10) are amended by inserting, immediately after rule 6, the following rule:
6A.
—(1) Every motor cycle first registered in Singapore on or after 1st November 1997 shall be equipped with a device that is constructed to cause the headlamp of the motor cycle —
(a)
to emit a dipped beam automatically when the engine of the motor cycle is started by turning the ignition switch; and
(b)
to remain lit at all times while the engine is running.
(2) The device referred to in paragraph (1) shall be maintained in proper working condition.”.
