Road Traffic (Segway Human Transporter) (Exemption from Part II of Act and Rule 28 of Road Traffic Rules) Order 2005
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Segway Human Transporter) (Exemption from Part II of Act and Rule 28 of Road Traffic Rules) Order 2005 and shall come into operation on 1st May 2005.
2. In this Order, “Segway Human Transporter” means a one-person 2-wheel transporter equipped with 2 electric motors and which is distributed in Singapore by SiS Technologies Pte Ltd.
3. Part II of the Act and rule 28 of the Road Traffic Rules (R 20) shall not apply to any person riding a Segway Human Transporter from 1st May 2005 to 30th June 2005 (both dates inclusive) —
(a)
on the footways of the roads specified in the Schedule or for the purpose of crossing such roads; or
(b)
on the roads specified in items 1 and 2 of that Schedule.
