Land Officers Powers Act
(CHAPTER 154)
(Original Enactment: Ordinance 11 of 1926)
REVISED EDITION 1985
(30th March 1987)
An Act to remove doubts as to the powers of certain land officers.
[24th September 1926]
2. Wherever in any written law powers or duties are conferred or imposed upon “the Collector” or “the Collector of Land Revenue”, the powers may be exercised and the duties may be performed, provided there is nothing repugnant in the context of the written law, by any officer who has been appointed to be a Collector of Land Revenue or Deputy Collector of Land Revenue.
3. Every act performed by any officer appointed to be a Collector of Land Revenue or to be a Deputy Collector of Land Revenue acting in purported exercise of powers conferred by any written law upon “the Collector” or “the Collector of Land Revenue” or “the Collector of Land Revenue for the Settlement” or “the officer in charge of” any Land Office, is hereby declared to be of the same force and effect and to be as valid for all intents and purposes as it would have been if the officer had been appointed to be “the Collector” or “the Collector of Land Revenue” or “the Collector of Land Revenue for the Settlement” or had in fact been the officer in charge of the Land Office, as the case may be.
