Q1. Is legislation in SSO authoritative?


Answer:

No, SSO's content is not the authoritative text of Singapore's legislation. SSO provides the unofficial version of Singapore's legislation. Please see About Us.



Q2. I am unable to view all the contents of the legislation.


Answer:

You may not have clicked the "Whole Document" button.

To view all the contents of the legislation, click on the "Whole Document" button located at the bottom of the table of contents on the left of the screen (refer to Figure 1).

Q3. I have printed an Act from SSO, but the print out is messy.


Answer:

For a print-friendly version of the legislation, click on the "Whole Document" button located at the bottom of the table of contents on the left of the screen, and then click on the printer icon at the top-right corner of the page (refer to Figure 2).

Q4. Where can I obtain hardcopies of legislation?


Answer:


Please check with the National Library (Reference collection) or the National University of Singapore's Law Library.

Hardcopies of legislation can be purchased from the Singapore Government Printer, Toppan Leefung Pte Ltd. For more information, please visit their website at http://www2.toppanleefung.com/webshop/.



Q5. I get an error message when accessing legislation in SSO from a third party website.


Answer:

The hyperlink provided in the third party website may be outdated or incorrect or the third party website may not have permission to hyperlink to SSO. Please access the legislation from the Home page of SSO. Please also notify us of the error by emailing to [email protected].



Q6. Do I need permission to hyperlink to SSO from my website, or upload/reproduce any Singapore legislation on my website, or reproduce any Singapore legislation in any publication?


Answer:

Private organisations and persons must obtain the prior approval of the Attorney-General's Chambers to do any of the following:

  1. hyperlinking to SSO from any website;
  2. uploading/reproducing any Singapore legislation on any website;
  3. reproducing any Singapore legislation in any publication.

The request for approval should be addressed to the Chief Legislative Counsel, Legislation Division, Attorney-General's Chambers and sent by:

Government Agencies do not require specific approval in respect of legislation administered by them - please refer to the terms of the Smart Regulation Circular No. 02/2005.



Q7. A hyperlink within legislation is incorrect or broken.


Answer:

This may be due to a technical fault. Please notify us of the error by emailing us at [email protected].



Q8. Legislation is not updated correctly in SSO.


Answer:

This could be due to the amendment to the legislation not having come into force yet. If this is not the case, please email us at [email protected].
